- Location:Heathrow Airport, London
- Working Pattern:Fixed Term Full Time
- Closing Date:16 April 2017
As a world-leading airline, we need to keep our fleet of aircraft in perfect working order. And our engineering teams are the ones who do that – from general maintenance to complete engine changes. On this three-year apprenticeship programme, you’ll be working alongside and learning from them every day, developing your engineering skills on real aircraft in a real job. Over a series of rotations, you’ll work on all our aircraft fleets and learn the engineering skills that will help you to maintain their serviceability. At the same time, you’ll be studying towards the qualifications you need to become one of our future Aircraft Engineers.
As an Aircraft Maintenance apprentice you’ll be an important member of our team, so we don’t expect you to take a back seat. We won’t just listen to your ideas – if we think they’re good ones, we’ll encourage you to take them to senior management and support you to get them implemented.
You will need to demonstrate a passion and an interest in engineering as a career, in order to become an Aircraft Engineer. Just as important, you’ll have the confidence to communicate with people at all levels and act on your own initiative when required. It can be high pressure work in a constantly changing business, so you’ll also need the flexibility to adapt to different demands, while always putting safety first. You’ll also need to manage your time effectively, as you balance working in one of our teams with the coursework. But throughout the three-year programme, we’ll make sure you have all the training and support you need to gain a recognised qualification and set you on the path to becoming one of our Aircraft Engineers.

What our people say about the programme
“You have a lot of different job opportunities and it makes you think outside the box because you’re nearly always doing a new job and constantly learning new things every day.” - Sophie
“You’re included in the different work areas from the outset, which allows you to obtain the maximum amount of experience possible on the aircraft.” - Josh
“I like that when you have an idea, even executives are generally willing to listen, because they understand that it could be for the good of the company. Other places may not listen to someone my age simply because I am 'only an apprentice', but at British Airways, I feel like I matter.” - Samuel
