Cabin Crew - Gatwick Fleet

This is more than a job. There are challenging days, it’s never 9-5, and it’s not for everyone. But when a customer says you’ve made their flight, there’s no feeling like it.

Our Cabin Crew New Entrant Training scheme is your route into British Airways and the Gatwick Cabin Crew team. Once trained and ready, you will fly a combination of long-haul and short-haul routes from Gatwick.


What you’ll do as Gatwick Cabin Crew

It’s the professionalism, helpfulness and friendliness of the Cabin Crew that ensure customers remember a flight for all the right reasons. That’s why this role is so important to British Airways. You’re an ambassador for our brand and an advocate for everything we believe in.

First and foremost, you’re there to take care of the safety of passengers. Beyond this fundamental responsibility, your job is to make customers feel valued, through an inflight experience that more than lives up to expectations.

We want you to add a personal touch to the familiar routine of flying – when welcoming customers on board, highlighting safety features, selling duty free, serving drinks/meals and demonstrating how in-flight technologies work.

You’ll always be on hand to help those who need it, like families or those with disabilities or extra needs.  You’ll also be a problem solver and trouble shooter, when customers have queries or if something does go wrong. By turning negative to positive, you’ll boost loyalty and keep customers coming back.   

 

What you need to join us

We’re looking for a high level of professionalism and commitment, alongside the qualities to make customers feel welcomed, valued, informed and listened to.

A passion for customer service: you’ll need to deliver exceptional service to every customer, on every flight.

An appetite for hard work: This is a fast-paced, always-on-the-go job, with long hours. You need a high level of commitment and ability to keep your energy levels up.

Resilience: Some shifts are really tough, especially if you’re feeling jetlagged. But even when your day’s not going great, you need the mental stamina to keep your standards up.

Empathy: You’ll be someone who understands the needs of others and genuinely cares about helping out.

Openness to change: We’re embracing major change by introducing new on-board technologies and improvements to the in-flight experience. Our Cabin Crew are helping bring this change to life – it’s important that you embrace innovation and new ideas.

Gaining your CCA Attestation

Before beginning Cabin Crew New Entrant Training, you are required to obtain a Cabin Crew Attestation (CCA) with one of our world class third-party partners.

This attestation allows you to undertake Cabin Crew duties on European Community-registered aircraft. Your qualifications will be revalidated annually as part of your British Airways Cabin Crew Training.

After obtaining your CCA, you will then continue with your New Entrant Training at our state-of-the-art training facility, using our new nationally recognised Cabin Crew apprenticeship standard.

 

Already hold an EASA Attestation?

If you already hold a valid European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Attestation, you can start the British Airways New Entrant Training without having to undertake the CCA training again You will go straight to our Cabin Crew training courses.

What’s on offer?

As a member of our Gatwick Fleet Cabin Crew, you'll have the potential to earn on average a reward package of between £20,500 and £22,500 per annum, potentially increasing to £24,000 in conjunction with corporate pay initiatives. This includes a starting salary of £13,856, bonuses for achieving your performance targets and commission for Inflight Retail sales.

  • Annual leave starting at 28 days per year rising to 34 days per year.
  • A pension scheme with potential contributions of up to 16.5% (if you contribute 5% British Airways will contribute 11.5%)
  • A flexible benefits scheme which gives you the option to buy from a range of benefits such as private medical insurance, life assurance, and critical illness cover
  • Discounted confirmed flights for friends and family on British Airways from date of joining
  • After six months in the role, access to standby flights for yourself and two nominees
  • Discounted standby travel on other airlines in the Oneworld alliance
  • Discounts on car hire, hotels, leisure activities, entertainment and many more
  • Free parking at work and free parking at Heathrow whilst on holiday for up to two weeks at a time
