Imagine being part of a friendly and dedicated team, working for the UK’s largest airline at the world’s second busiest airport. This is a fantastic opportunity to join British Airways as a Ground Operations Agent at London Heathrow.
Speedy and efficient service has made us the airline we are today, and our Ground Operations team on the ramp manages over 2,000 aircraft turn rounds and delivers over 250,000 bags in a typical week. But it’s even more during the big summer getaway, which is why we need people to join us for 3 or 5 months from May onwards. It’s perfect if you’re a student looking for vacation work – or even if you just want something to keep you going for a few months.
As part of the team, you’ll enjoy a varied mix of indoor and outdoor shift work. If you know the aviation business, you’ll be able to put your experience to good use; if you don’t, it’s a great chance to get a first look at how everything works on the ground at a busy airport. Weekend training over your first four weeks will get you up and running and enable to you tackle every aspect of the job.
Our work patterns are normally 7 days on and 3 days off, followed by 7 days on and 4 days off. But remember that airports never sleep, so your shifts could involve working any time, day or night, 365 days of the year.
Previous operational experience would be useful but not essential. More important is that you have a passion for delivering a safe, customer-focused service, the ability to adapt to changing situations and the resilience to cope with a challenge. You’ll also need a valid passport and a valid UK DVLA driving licence with no more than 3 points.
